Anti-malware

Malware consists of spyware, viruses, trojans, worms, grayware, rootkits and other harmful software. The list seems to grow on a daily basis with new types of malware keeping the "anti-virus" companies busy. There are many anti-virus products on the market today, with many additional features. Being product agnostic, Nclose does not believe that one product is always the right solution and thus offers many solutions based on your organisational requirements.

Host Based Intrusion Prevention

Sometimes anti-virus software includes Host Based Intrusion Prevention Solutions (HIPS), but HIPS can also be installed as a separate application. HIPS monitors network and software activity and identifies malicious actions and code by using signatures and behavioural analysis. This technology is generally regarded as a more proactive approach to security.

Application Control

Application control allows administrators to easily manage what applications are launched by users. Microsoft's Group Policies provide this functionality but there are more powerful applications available that give greater control and are also easier to manage. Closely related to application control is device control. Device control lets administrators control what devices can be connected to workstations. This is particularly useful to control removable media by disabling the writing of cdroms or data to USB memory sticks. The primary motivation for deploying these types of controls is that applications installed from unofficial sources can not be trusted and may contain harmful code that can disrupt business operations or steal confidential information. User productivity can also be improved by preventing non business related applications for being run on workstations.
